Preface to Special Issue of ``the 35th International Symposium on Free Radical'' and ``the International Conference on Molecular Energy Transfer in Complex System (2019)"
The Chinese Journal of Chemical Physics is very pleased to organize a special issue on the International Symposium on Free Radicals and the International Conference on Molecular Energy Transfer in Complex Systems where were held consecutively in China in 2019.
The International Symposium on Free Radicals(ISFR) was established over sixty years ago to bring together researchers at the frontier of this field in a wide variety of topics of free radical chemistry. The ISFR meeting series has evolved into a leading international conference on free radical chemistry with particular emphasis on the spectroscopic identification, characterization and reaction dynamics of radicals. The 35th symposium took place in the beautiful city of Hangzhou, China, from September 15 to September 20, 2019 (Co-Chair: Jingsong Zhang and Xueming Yang). ISFR35 was jointly hosted by Hangzhou Institute of Advanced Studies and State Key Laboratory of Molecular Reaction Dynamics, with supports from the National Natural Science Foundation, Zhejiang Normal University, and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics.
The International Conference on Molecular Energy Transfer in Complex Systems (iCOMET/COMET) was established in 1971 in Cambridge, UK. Over the past decades, the conferences have brought together scientists from all over the world to present and discuss cutting-edge experimental and theoretical studies, including chemical reaction dynamics, advances in theoretical chemistry, photofragmentation dynamics, dynamics at surfaces, cold collisions and clusters, ultrafast dynamics, electronically nonadiabatic phenomena, energy conversion processes, and so forth. iCOMET 2019 continued the series of conferences and took place in Hefei, China, from September 22 to September 27, 2019 (Co-Chair: Xingan Wang and Xueming Yang). iCOMET 2019 was jointly hosted by University of Science and Technology of China and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The scientific programs of ISFR35 and iCOMET 2019 includes invited talks, hot topic talks, and poster sessions. These two conferences are very much helpful in enhancing the communications and collaborations for researchers in relevant fields. The topics therein presented a balanced overview of new results, emerging directions, and perspectives in the related scientific research fields which are within the scope of the Chinese Journal of Chemical Physics. We would like to thank all the participants of ISFR35 and iCOMET 2019 who made the scientific programs very stimulating and fruitful.
In this special issue, we are very happy to present the new results of some participants of ISFR35 and iCOMET2019. We believe this special issue will be beneficial for further academic exchanges.
