Coherent Wave Packet Transfer by Intense Femtosecond Pulses──Theoretical Calculation for I₂

A one-dimension wavepacket study of a two-state spstem（I₂）, coupled by two intense laser pulses, has been presented. The two strong laser pulses may result in the wavepackets interference destructively under specific conditions. The vibrational coherent motion in the ground electronic state is investigated and the vibrational population inversion is achieved.
