    Structural Studies of Amorphous CuTi Prepared by Mechanical Alloying

    • A few amorphous alloys of Cu-Ti were prepared by mechanical alloying(MA-CuTi). Their structures were studied by extended X-ray absortpion fine structure(EXAPS),X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscope. The conclusion are:The structure of MA-CuTi are different from the structure of the amorphous prepared by quenching(QU-CuTi). The QU-CuTi has a homogeneous organization, but the MA-CuTi has a sandwich-like structure,Cu-Ti amorphous is held between a film of Cu and a film of Ti. If the time of ball grinding iS more longer, the temperature of alloy will rise. It results in structural relaxation. The very fing grains of Cu of Ti are formed in the alloy layer.
