Single Pulse Shock Tube Studies on the Decomposition of C2F4 in the Presence of H2

Abstract
The decomposition of C2F4 in the presence of H2 has been studied in asingle pulse shock tube.As the extend of the reaction C2F4+Ar→2CF2+Ar is assigned to the measured concentration of the final stable product CH4 led by the consequence of CF2 insertion into H2,the decomposition rate at temperature range 1000 to 1080K is consistent with the rate constant given by Modica and LaGraff. The direct measurements of the residuary concentration of C2F4 show that in addition to the direct pyrolysis there are 10 times more consumption of C2F4 caused by a polymerization chain initiated by the released H atom in the system as a consequence of the reaction of CF2 with H2.
