Reaction of Ni⁺ with n-C₆H₁₄ in the Gas Phase

In a simple reation cell, a pulsed laser has been used to generate and study the gas-phase inonmolecule reaction of Ni⁺ ions with n-C₆H₁₄ molecules in conjunction with a time—of—flight mass spectrometer. The reaction products are NiC₂H₄⁺、 NiC₃H₆⁺、 NiC₄H₈⁺ and NiC₆H₁₂ The influence of experimental eonditions on the reaction was also discussed.
