    Studies on Synthesis and Spectra of Cu(Ⅱ) Complexes of Benzoylacetone-ethylenediamine Half-unit Schiff base

    • The Concentration reaction of benzoylacetone (bzac) with ethylenediamine (en) produced a half-unit Schiff base (bzacen). which was used to prepare novel Cu( II ) complexes with 1,10-phenanthroline and 2.2-bipyridine.Cu(bzacen)(phen)1 and Cu(bzacen)(bipy)4. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses. IR. UV and ESR spectra. The result that the coordination geometry of Cu( II) atom in both complexes is the pyramidal with approximate C4v symmetry is in agreement with the X-ray structures.
