Determination of the Quadrupole Coupling Constant of N-14 in Liquid DMF

Abstract
In the present paper, the molecular reorientation correlation time of DMF at 298K was accurately determined based on the fact that the difference or the rclaxation rates between the 12C main peak and the 13C satelitc of the aldehyde proton is described by the pure dipole-dipole relaxation mechanism. Having obtained the N-14 quadrupolar relaxahon time and the correlation bine of DMF experimentally, we calculated the N-14 quadrupole coupling constant in liquid DMF. By averaging from different experiments, the result has been found to be 3.42MHz, which is in good agreement with the estimation data in the literature
