Layered-structured Ti doped O3-Na1-xCr1-xTixO2(x=0, 0.03, 0.05) with excellent electrochemical performance as cathode materials for sodium ion batteries

Abstract:
Layer-structured O3 type cathode materials Na1-xCr1-xTixO2 (x=0, 0.03, 0.05) are fabricated by a thermopolymerization method. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy are used to analyze their crystal structures and particle morphologies. It has been found that the appropriate Ti doping effectively leads to the formation of uniform morphology. As a cathode, the x=0.03 sample delivers a quite high discharge capacity of 110 mAh g-1 at 32C in the potential range from 2.0 to 3.6 V (vs. Na) and can be cycled at 0.2 C for 100 cycles with only 4% capacity decay. The Na//Na0.97Cr0.97Ti0.03O2 cell exhibits very high coulombic efficiency (above 96%). All these results suggest that Na0.97Cr0.97Ti0.03O2 is a very promising cathode material for sodium ion batteries.

通过凝胶热聚合路线合成了层状的O3相正极材料Na1-xCr1-xTixO2 (x=0, 0.03, 0.05),采用X射线衍射、扫描电子显微镜和透射电子显微镜来分析其晶体结构和微观形貌。研究发现,适量的钛掺杂有助于形成更均匀的颗粒并且会改变样品的颜色。作为钠离子电池正极材料,Na//Na0.97Cr0.97Ti0.03O2具有非常高的库伦效率(首次高于96%),并且在2.0-3.6伏特的电化学窗口下,用0.2C的倍率循环100次,只有4%的容量衰减;在32C倍率下有110 mAh/g的比容量,表明Na0.97Cr0.97Ti0.03O2是一种非常有前景的钠离子电池电极材料
