Synthesis and Characterization of CePO₄ Nanoparticales

The structure of CePO₄ nanoparticle was characterized by transmission electron microscope（TEM）, electron deffraction （ED）, X-ray diffraction of powder（XRD）, and FTIR spectrum. The results show that surface-modified CePO₄ nanoparticles consisted of nanoparticle core of CePO₄ and surface-modified layer which was binded to surface of the CePO₄ core.Because of the organic surface-modified layer, the nanoparticles have good dispersity in organic solvents, such as chlorform,liquid paraffin et al.. The lubricating properties of surface-modified nanopartides as additive were also investigated. The results indicated this nanoparticles had good lubricating and antiwear properties.
