Preparation and Characterization of Ultrafine Powders of Cu-Pd Alloy by γ-radiation

The γ-radiation method has been successfully used to prepare ultrafine powders of Cu-Pd alloy from the solution containing Cu（NH₃）₄²⁺ and Pd（NH₃）₄²⁺ complex ions. The X-ray diffraction （XRD）and transmission electron microscopy （TEM）show the formation of CU-Pd alloy possessing the fare-centred cubic structure and the average particle size of 10nm for Cu-Pd alloy.The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）indicates that the palladium content in the Cu-Pd alloy is 21.4%. Influenas of experimental conditions on the formation Of Cu--Pd alloy are discussed.
