Adsorption Properties of Fe(CO)5 on Y-zeolites of Different Type of Cations
-
Abstract
The adsorption and thermal decomposition of Fe(CO)5 on the Y-zeolites containing cations of Na+,Ni2+, Cu2+, Ca2+ and Co2+ were investigated by gravimetric,low-temperature nitrogen adsorption and electron spin resonance techniques. It was found that the type of the cations in zeolite significatly affects the behaviors of the adsorption of metal carbonyls on the zeolites. For NaY,CaY and CoY,the adsorbed metal carbonyl species decompose upon heating at a temperature of above 200℃ accompanied, meanwhile,a remarkable desorption. On NiY and CuY,however, the decarbonylation occurs even at room temperature upon evacuation.Due to the strong interaction between the adsorbed species with zeolite cations, the metal loadings are higher than those on NaY,CaY or CoY after complete thermal decomposition.
