A Study of the Binding Energy Spectra and Momentum Profiles for the Valence Shells of Methane
-
Abstract
The binding energy spectra and momentum profiles for the valence shells of methane have been measured by using a newly setup multichannel EMS spectrometer. The energy and momentum resolutions were calibrated to be 1. 8 eV and 0. 15 a. u., respectively, by measuring Hels and Ar3p. The measured binding energies and pole strengths are compared with the available experimental and theoretical results. Four satellite peaks are deconvoluted in the binding energy range 25-40 eV. The electron momentum distributions of the valence shells were measured and are in good agreement with the CI calculation results.
