A Study on Carbon Deposition over Ni/Al2O3 Catalyst for CH4/CO2 Reforming Reaction
-
Abstract
Alumina supported nickel owns activity as good as Rh,Ru catalysts for CH4/CO2 reforming reaction,it is generally deposited more carbon than that of noble metal catasts, however. The current paper reports characterization of surface deposited carbon on Ni/Al2O3 catalys tsusing x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and pulse reactor. The catalyst, which was treated either by pure methane or by carbon monoxide at 973K, has given out a new carbon species with binding energy of ca.283 6eV.This kind of carbon is assigned to metal carbide carbon. The deposited carbon from either CH4 or CO could be partly removed by CO2 treatment. The difference is that the deposited carbon from methane is more activity than that from CO.
