The Antisymmetric Nonresonant VibrationalRaman Scattering of Tetrahydrofuran

Abstract
Antisymmetric nonresonant vibrational Raman scattering of Tetrahy drofuran (THF) is experimentally and theoretically studied in this paper. In nonresonant Raman spectra of THF,the depolarization ratios of totalysymmetric combinative bands (v16 and v17 ) related to the pseudorotation have been found to be ρ~0.75,far higher than those of ordinary totalysymmetric vibrational bands.By using a time-reversal symmeetry and group theory theoretical results show that the amti symmetric transition polarizabilities make important comtribution to the higher depolarization ratios of v16 and v17 bands, and become 1 order of magnitude smaller than or as same order of magnitude as the symmtric ones.
