    The Study of Coordination Symmetry and Spectrum Analysis of Ferrous Ions in Rhodonite

    • The coordination symmetry and the absorption spectrum of Fe2+ ions in rhodonite were studied by means of a recently proposed simplified strong-field scheme. The results show that the symmetry of M4 site is nearly C3, this consist with the estimate made by Mar shall and Runciman. But the assignment of the bands is quite different from that made by them, especially the ground state is A" instead of A’, the band at 8000 cm-1 is due to the OA transition of the sites M1-3 instead of the C3 transition of the M4 site.
