Production and Distribution of Positive and Negative Ion Clusters Obtained by Laser Ablation of NaN3 Solid

Abstract
We report the observation of several series of positive and negative cluster ions produced by laser directly vaporation of NaN3 solid sample with TOF MS spetrometic detection. The produced cluster ions including: Na(NaN3)n+,Na3(NaN3)n+, Na4N(NaN3)n+, Na5(NaN3)n+,(NaN3)n+, (Na)n+, N3(NaN3)n+, Na(NaN3)n-, (NaN3)n- and N(NaN3)n-. From the result we find that the channel induced by laser in the solid surface and the gas generated during the surface reaction are benefit to the formation of clusters. We suppose that the mechanism of cluster ion growth is similar to that of Laser Vaporahon/Molecular Beam (LV/MB) method.
