SERS of Phenylmercaptotetrazole and Mercaptobenzothiazole Adsorbed on Silver Sol and Influencing Factors

    • The surface enhanced Raman spectra (SERS) of 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole (PMT) and 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) adsorbed on silver sol and the normal Raman spectra of their solid (NRS) were reported. It was supposed that both N and S atoms of PMT are involved in adsorption. However, MBT may be adsorded on silver through the S atom of the mercapto group.
The influences of halide ions on the adsorption were investigated. It was found that in the adsorption halide ions competed with PMT and MBT.
The difference of effects of hydroxyl ions on the adsorption of PMT and MBT was discussed. It was suggested that the boding force between the silver substrate and adsorbates seems to be dependent on the polarizability of the latter.
