Phonon Softening of PTS Single Crystal during the Phase Transition at 200K
-
Abstract
The Specific heat of polybis (p-toluene sulfonate) of 2, 4-hexadiyne-1, 6-diol (PTS) single crystal has been measured from 80 to 240K. The specific heat of PTS abnormally decreases when the phase transition appears in the range of 7K near 200K. This special behaviour comes from soft acoustic-phonon modes or PTS which are attributed to the torsion of the side-groups during the phase transition.
