Inverse Microemulsion Polymerization of Acrylamide
-
Abstract
The polymerization of acrylamide in the reverse microemulsion of H 2O-AOT-tolune, using four kinds of initiators AIBN,(NH4)2 SO8,NaHSO3, MnSO4-O2-NaHSO3 has been investigated. The influence of initiators and their concentration, temperature, reactive time on the polymerized yield and molecular weight of polyacrylamide has been obtained. The best result is obtained by using AIBN as initiator. The activative energy which based on measurements of reactive ratio at three temperature are 128.58 and 29.93 kJ/mol for initiating radicals and chain growth process, respectively. The influence of the Stern layer on the initiator efficiency and the mechanism of polymerization in the reverse microemulsion system have been discussed. This is believed to be practically important for polymer and material science.
