Optical Properties of Dye-doped Silica Gel in the Blne

    • Coumarin 450 dye-doped silica material with blue lasing band was synthesized by sol-gel technique. Tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) was adoptal as the sol-gel precursor.Ethyleneglycol and HCl were used as the drying control chemical additive (DCCA) and catalyst during the sol-gel process, respectively, to modify the pore size distribution of the silica gel and make the texture compact. The synthesized pore silica gel possesses high optical transmission in wide spectrium down to 300 um, which allows the coumarin 450 dye-doped silica gel to be excited by 308nm XeCl laser. Under the transverse pump with a pulsed XeCl laser. The laser output with 451 nm wavelength from the coumarin 450 doped silica was generated. The laser efficiency can be more than 6.2%, and the stable output laser energy can be kept after thousand of pumping shots.
