On Validity of the Excess Entropy Production Criterion of Thermodynamic Stability of Nonequilibrium Steady States

By comparing the conclusions from excess entropy production criterion of thermodynamic stability with those from kinetic linearized stability analysis, the validity of thermodynamic stability criterion based on the excess entropy is analysed. It is shown that this stability criterinn is valid only when the linearized matrix of kinetic equations satisfies some symmetric conditions.
