    Pyroelectric Behaviour of TS and Its Polymers with Various Degree of Polymerization

    • Pyroelectric behaviour of bis (p-toluene sulfonate) of 2, 4-hexadiyne- 1, 6-diol (TS) and its polymers with various degree of polymerization has been investigated. For pure monomer TS and the samples annealing time less than 20 hours at 60℃, two peaks of pyroelectric current at about 152K and 192K respectively were observed, meaning there is a stable incommensurable phase in them between the temperature range of 152K- 192K. Thus, 152K should be the phase transition temperature from low temperature commensurable phase to incommensurable one, and 192K the phase transition temperature one. There was only one pyroelectric peak at about 190K in the samples annealing time more than 30 hours. The incommensurable phase disappears. The temperature is the phase transition from low temperature commensurable phase to high temperature one. From this point, the phase diagram was constructed. The crossing of high temperature phase line and low temperature one is corresponding to the self-acceleration stage of TS polymerization at 60℃.
