A Theoretical Study of Orientational Transition is Solid C60
An intermolecular interaction model is proposed in solid C60. The crystal field and coupling of librational modes are well formulated by symmetry-adapted rotator functions. The soft modes are obtained by considering the free energy of orientation-orientation coupling.The calculated orientational phase transition temperature agrees with experiments' result.
