Temperature Dependence of Foreign Gas Broadening for Spectral Lines on v3 Band of NO2

    • In the previous paper, we developed an indirect method for spectral linewidth measurement by which the linewidths and pressure broadening coefficients of spectral lines can be derived from the pressure dependence of the peak-to-peak ainplitudes of the first derivative curve of the absorption lines. In this paper, as a continuation, the experiment is described, which applied this method to study the temperature dependence of pressure broadening of the laser magnetic resonance spectral lines of NO2. Coefficients or pressure broadening of spectral lines on v3 band of NO2 by a few foreign gases have been measured over a temperature range from 273 to 373K. Over this range, the linewidths broadened by O2, N2 and air were found to vary as T-x, and the relative values of x were determined to be 0.92 ± 0.17, 0.97 ± 0.12, and 0.96 ± 0.13 respectively. The results were compared with the published data. Interpretation based on Anderson's impact theory was given.
