The Study of Fe(CO)5 Multiphoton Ionization Mass Spectra
-
Abstract
Multiphoton ionization mass spectra of Fe(CO)5 induced by XeCl excimer laser were studied with a molecular beam and a quadrupole mass spectrometer. The ion fragments CO+, Fe(CO)n+ (n=1,2,…5) and Fe2 (CO)m+ (m=4,5,…,9) were measured. The intensities of various ion fragments were measured as a function of laser fluence and sample pressure. Our results show that a few of ion-molecule reactions are very effective in our experimental conditions. It is discussed that the dynamics of Fe(CO)5 photo-dissociation induced by XeCl excimer laser and the formation mechanisms of the ion fragments Fe2 (CO)m+ (m= 5,6,…,9).
