    Intramolecular Energy Transfer in Anthracene-Heteroatom-Containing-Anthracene Dyes

    • Anthracene-Heteroatom-containing anthrancene dyes have been synthesized. Intramolecular energy transfer between methylanthracene (MA) as a donor (D) and heteroatom-containing anthracene dyes as an acceptor (A) has been studied and the characteristic parameters were obtained, such as the constant of energy transfer (kET), the distance between the centers of donor and acceptor (r), Forster distance (R0) and efficiency of energy transfer (E). The low efficiency (E~30%) may be attributed to the small overlap between MA’s emission spectrum and dye’s absorption spectrum. Triplet energy transfer was not observed from the phosphorescence spectrum.
