The Preparation of Uniform Colloidal Particles of α-Fe2O3 by Method of Phase Transitions-Microwave Irradiation

Abstract
The uniform colloidal particles of α-Fe2O3 were prepatal by method of phase transition-microwave irradiation in presence of surfactant. It was shown that the aging period is very shorter than that of conventional method through added CTAB surfactant in microwave irradiation. In this way the final particles appeared uniform colloidal pseudocube shape and the productivity of the particles are higher than that of general method. So the industryprospect is good. The influence of microwave irradiation, kind of surfactant and concentration of the system on the shape and she of particles were discussed, the formation process of the particles was also studied using time resolved TEM and FTIR. It was concluded that CTAB cation surfactant is favourable to form the uniform colloidal pesudocube particles and the phase transfortmation is a key step in the formation of particles.
