Chemiluminescence and Dynamics of CN Produced by the Reactions of F and N Atoms with Halomethanes

Abstract
The chemiluminescence produced by the reactions of F and N atoms with halomethanes CHmX4-m(X=Cl,Br,m≤4) was obtained in the visible region in crossed molecular beam apparatus operated in multi-collision condition. The spectra were assigned to CN(A2Ⅱ→X2∑-) and CN(B2∑-→X2∑-) transitions. The CN(A2Ⅱ) was found to lie in highly excited vibrational states with a broad population distribution. A dynamics analysis proposed that the addition of F Atoms plays an important role in the formation of CN(A2Ⅱ,B2∑-) and that CN(A2Ⅱ) is formed from an atom recombination process . CN(B2∑-) is populated by energy transfer collision of CN(A2Ⅱ) with background molecules.
