Studies on the Mixed Micelles of Hydrocarbon and Fluorocarbon Surfactants

Abstract
The mixed micellar microenvironmental properties for 3-dodecyl ether-2-hydroxy-propyl-1-sulfonate (SDEHS) and perfluorooctanoate (SPFO) were studied by using NMR,ESR and the surface tensions. The surface tension results show that the introduction of the hydroxypropyl increases the activity of the alkyl sulfonate, and the surface activity of SDEHS-SPFO aqueous is much is higher than that of SDEHS or SPFO.The spectra of NMR and ESR show that SDEHS-SPFO can form a mixed micelle, the fluorocarbon chain of SPFO has a strong interaction with the hydrocarbon chain of SDEHS,and the microviscosity of the mixed micells is higher than that of SDEHS.
