Photodissociation of HCOOH at 248nm

Abstract
The photodissociation of HCOOH at 248nm was investigated by Time-Resolved Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (TR-FTIRS). Infrared emissions from vibrationally excited products CO(v≤8), CO2 (v3≤9) and H2O(v) were detected and nascent vibrational population of CO and CO2 was obtained. There was an apparent population inversion of CO2, indicating a very fast process for HCOOH to dissociate into CO2. It was found that the contribution of pathway to produce CO was larger than that to produce CO2.
