Phase Diagram of Ternary System NdCl3-SrCl2-MgCl2

Abstract
The phase diagram of ternary system \mathrmNdCl_3-\mathrmSrCl_2-\mathrmMgCl_2 has been investigated by means of DTA. Four surfaces corresponging to the primary crystallization of \mathrmNdCl_3, \mathrmSrCl_2, \mathrmMgCl_2 and \mathrmSr_3 \mathrmNdCl_9 respectively, five univariant lines related to the secondary crystallization, ternary eutectic point E\left(27.0\right. wt. \left.\% \mathrmNdCl_3, 42.5 w t . \% \mathrmSrCl_2, 30.5 w t . \% \mathrmMgCl_2 ; T, 526 \mathrmC\right) and ternary peritectic point P\left(24.0 \mathrmwt . \% \mathrmNdCl_3, 44.5 w t . \% \mathrmSrCl_2, 31.5 w t . \% \mathrmMgCl_2, T, 532 \mathrmC\right) were found. The two reactions occurred in the system are: \beginaligned & L+\mathrmSrCl_2 \rightleftharpoons \mathrmSr_3 \mathrmNdCl_9+\mathrmMgCl_2 \\ & L \rightleftharpoons \mathrmSr_3 \mathrmNdCl_9+\mathrmNdCl_3+\mathrmMgCl_2 \endaligned Some rules of phase diagram in the system \mathrmRECl_3-\mathrmSrCl_2-\mathrmMgCl_2 were also explored.
