Theoretical and Experimental Studies of XPS and Shake-up Phenomena of Carbazole Derivatives

The studies of XPS and shake-up satellites of fourteen carbazole derivatives were carried out, and some compounds were calculated using CNDO/S-CI program, The results show that the XPS spectra of these compounds have low-energy shake-up satellites of considerable intensity and the peaks are all attributable to π→π^* transitions. The calculated intensity of N₁, shake-up peaks is in good agreetment with experiment, but the calculated intensity of C_1s, shake-up peaks has appreciable error.
