Surface Structural Analysis of Polyethylene Films Treated by Microwave Plasma

    • Surface structur alanalysis of polyethylene films treate by various microwave plasmas (N2,He,CO2,O2,H2O and air) are conducted and compared via ESCA and EPMA.The results show that all these plasmas treating all lead to incorporate oxygen-containing (C-O-,-CO-O-) and nitrogen containing (-NH2,-NH-) polar groups into samples’ surface and etch the surfaces, which improve the samples’ wettability. For different plasmas treating, since the capabilities of incorporating groups and the etching effect are all different, the resulting samples show different hydrophilic, too.Among these, the N2 plasma- and the He plasma-treated samples show better hydrophilic than others.
