Coalescence Reaction of C60 Induced by UV Radiation——Raman Spectroscopy Measurement
-
Abstract
Raman spectroscopy was applied to monitor the coalescence process of C60 molecules induced by UV radiation. The C60 moleculesm, adsorbed on the gold surface, was processed to enhance the Raman scattering effect. As shown by the recorded spectra, after the coalescence reaction, the bands corresponding to the high symmetry Ag mode of the C60 molecules either disappeared or becamevery weak, but the bands of other vibrational mods just broadened and shifted to lower wavenumbers. The spectroscopy result suggests that the products of coalescence still keep the cage structure of the pristine C60 molecules.
