Abstract
The burning behavior of 3 mm-thick transparent PMMAslabs (100×100 mm2) at different temperatures was studied by using a cone calorimeter. The single equation rate model of mass loss rateaand timetwas simulated by using a chemical kinetic method. The result implied that in the process of PMMA burning, the mass loss rate may be controlled by the desorption and diffusion of products. The fitting result suggested that for PMMA burning in the temperature range of 584~800℃, theavs.trelationship can be described by using the equation as -ln(1-a)1/4=Ae-E/RTt, thereinto, the average activation energyEand the frequency factor Aare about 22.81 kJ/mol and 0.1239 s-1, respectively. The simulation result is almost consistent with the experiment data.
